Word has it that Skoda Auto will announce the prices of Superb facelift and Rapid 1.0L TSI sedan on 26th May, 2020. Coming from a Czech origin, Skoda was planning to spread out the launch over April and May. However, due to the country-wide lockdown, they had to delay it. With an amount of INR 50,000 one can now choose to make an official booking for both the models along with the third model, Karoq SUV. The approximate cost of the car’s two variants – Laurin and Klement (L&K) and Sportline, – ranges between 28 lakhs to 32 lakhs.
The Auto Expo 2020 revealed the Superb’s upgraded features such as the new LED headlamps, an updated front grille, a revised bumper and plenty of chrome at the rear end, with the LED lights enhancing its brand new look. It also has a novel 2.0L turbocharged petrol engine, generating power of a 190bhp. Moreover, a 7-speed dual clutch automatic gearbox makes an entry, paired with the motor. Moreover, in the inside it has a Virtual Cockpit with completely digital instrument cluster with a 10.25-inch configurable display. It will also have a larger Phone box for wireless charging and 8 airbags for more safety.
The BS6 Skoda Rapid, already showcased in the Auto Expo 2020, will have a whole new 1.0L TSI turbocharged petrol engine giving a power worth 110bhp along with a 175Nm of torque, same as the power generated by the BS6 Volkswagen Vento sedan and Polo hatchback. However, changes to the design will be minimal, if any. “The Rapid has a great 1.0-litre TSI engine and a 6-speed manual gearbox. Therefore, I have great confidence in that car going ahead“, said Zac Hollis, the Director of Skoda Auto India.
