Piaggio, the Italian two-wheeler maker, has recently announced the upgradation and introduction of premium scooters in India. Their target customer will majorly be the young buyers. In the Auto Expo 2020, we already have got the glimpse of Aprilia SXR 160 and other new products. It will soon be launching the new SXR 160 maxi-scooters in the Indian automobile market.
Booking details: Officially, Aprilia has started the pre-order bookings. The Baramati plant is Pune is already producing the new maxi scooters. It is possible to pre-book the scooter through authorized dealerships or an online platform. A down-payment of Rs 5,000 is necessary for ore-booking your scooter.
Engine specifications: A BS6 compliant 160cc, single-cylinder, 3 valve-engine will be powering the all-new Aprilia SXR 160. The same engine is used to power up the SR 160 as well. The engine will be able to churn up power worth 10.7bhp at 7600rpm. The torque will be around 11.6Nm at 6000rpm.
Style, Design and Features: Indian riders got the first-ever glimpse of this amazing scooter at the Auto Expo earlier this year. The company displayed the model as a Cross Maxi scooter. Italy has done designing and developed this fantastic scooter. The dual headlamps and integrated LED daytime running lamps look like make the scooter look highly attractive. There will be a raised handlebar, a large dark windscreen and LED taillights. The scooter will come equipped with smartphone connectivity and a digital instrument console that has a mileage indicator. the scooter has features like lit-up under-seat storage and a split glove box with a USB charger.
The Aprilia SXR 220mm scooter comes with a 220mm front disc and q140mm rear drum for apt braking. Also, there will be an Anti-Lock Braking System or ABS. The scooter gas 12-inch wheels are shod with 120/70 – 12 section tyres. The fuel tank has a capacity of around 7 litres. The wheelbase of the scooter is about 1353mm.
Timeline for launch: We already know that the new scooter can be launched any time now. We can expect the good news around January 2021. The Cross Maxi scooter will be positioned as a premium model, and the price can shoot up anywhere between Rs 1 lakh to Rs 1.2 lakh.
