Maruti Jimny to be rolled out in India!!

Maruti Suzuki has officially released a confirmation that the Jimny compact off-road SUV is under evaluation for the India automobile market. The Executive director for Marketing and Sales at Maruti Suzuki, Shashank Shrivastava, said that the company is considering various aspects of marketing the SUV in India.

     

Of late, the carmaker has started exporting the 3-door version to African, Latin American and Middle-Eastern markets. The Maruti Jimny 5-door version will soon be making its way into the Indian market. In case the model gets launched, the selling will be done by Nexa dealerships.

The official details have not been unveiled yet. But as per the reports, the Maruti Jimny SUV will be equipped with a 1.5 litre, 4-cylinder, naturally-aspirated petrol engine. The same powertrain is present in models like the Vitara Brezza S – Crossover and subcompact SUV.

The engine is capable of delivering power worth 103bhp and torque worth 138Nm. Most likely, it will be offered with a 4-speed torque converter automatic and 5-speed manual gearboxes.

It is possible that all the variants of the Jimny may come with a 4WD system.

The wheelbase of the 5-door Maruti Jimny will be sitting on a longer wheelbase. The length of the 5-door version is around 3.9 metres. Its wheelbase is about 2500mm. the model will have a front-facing second row of seats. There will be no alterations in the underpinnings. Just like the 3-door version, this model will come with a ladder-frame chassis.

     

The 5-door Maruti Jimny will come pre-loaded with attractive features. As per the speculations, the model will come equipped with a touchscreen infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic headlamps, keyless entry, engine start-stop button, to name a few.
