Korean car manufacturer Hyundai has been one of the most favorite brands in India for the past 20 years. However, the new entrant KIA has made a record of sorts with reaching the milestone number of 3 Lakh sales in the last two years. It is to be noted that KIA India is a subsidiary of KIA which itself is the subsidiary of Hyundai Motors.
KIA entered Indian market with its Seltos in the year 2019. Within a short period of 2 years, the company had sold an amazing 3 Lakh vehicles. The company reached 1 Lakh units by July 2020 and it had almost doubled the sales in the past one year. It is to be noted that the automobile industry around the world was affected by the global pandemic. In spite of the slowdown, the feat achieved by KIA is no small one.
Almost 2 lakh of the sales for the KIA Seltos, the first SUV model launched by the Korean company. It shares many features with the Hyundai Creta. The bulk of the remaining sales went for the compact SUV KIA Sonet, which is similar to the Hyundai Venue. Incidentally, the SUV segment of the automobile market has seen a massive growth in the past one year. From the figures, it seems that KIA has reaped the full benefits with its line-up of SUVs & MUVs. KIA Carnival is another favourite model that had 7300+ sales.
The company plans to expand its dealerships from 300 to 360 in the year. It will reach out to new Tier III cities which will enhance the present sales spree. The Kia production plant at Ananthpur employs over 13,000 people and is supported by Artificial intelligence and more than 450 robots. Incidentally, Kia dealers are also more satisfied and happier than other car dealers around the country.
