Mahindra & Mahindra Creates a New SUV Testing Track near Chennai!!

Indian SUV maker Mahindra & Mahindra has opened a new test track for the testing the Mahindra SUVs named as Mahindra SUV Proving Track. The track is designed by the Spanish Institution IDIADA that is one of the premier agencies in the track designing field. It is built over a large area of 454 acres of land on the outskirts of Kanchipuram in the Tiruvannamalai district of Tamil Nadu.

The MSPT is fully equipped with all kind of terrains, for testing the speed, traction, and power of the SUVs. It has a straight 0% slope high speed track that can be used to test vehicles up to 200 kmph. It also has a circular dynamic platform to test the vehicle dynamics.

The facility also sports 6 different surfaces to simulate the braking in different scenarios. There are also amenities to simulate rains, and dust storms. The track is complete with a 25 obstacle course to test off-road experience of the new SUVs. It will be used to test the 4WD and AWD performance of the new SUVs including the XUV 700, XUV500, etc.

The roads are custom built with pot holes, muddy stretches, stones, wash boards and speed breakers of varying sizes and shapes.

The facility can be completely monitored and viewed from the administration tower that can house more than 200 engineers. There are also specialised environments like humidity chamber to test the effect of corrosion. It has its own fuel station to refuel all the testing vehicles.

     

Apart from using the facility for its in house testing, Mahindra has also built a 4X4 Customer Experience Zone, where off-road aficionados and enthusiasts can test drive their own vehicles. This part of the track has multiple off-road stretches that includes woody area, mud, rock beds. Wooden bridge and other exciting course. This will become operational sometime in the next year.
