Maruti Suzuki New 1.5-L DDiS 225 Diesel Engine in house development

Maruti Suzuki is going to launch its in-house developed 1.5-liter diesel engine. Well, it is in the news because, after decades, the company is giving something new in the market rather than the cars. This time it is an engine, which is advanced and upgraded.

This new motor, which is BS-VI-updated, is BS-IV consistent and will be moved up to meet the more stringent standards sometime in the future.

The Engine: Associated Cars
The Maruti Ciaz diesel costs around Rs 9.97 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the base Delta variation and go up to Rs 11.37 lakh for the top-spec Ciaz Alpha.

The Engine: Spec-to-Price
The costs may rise by about Rs 17,000 for the lower-spec Delta and by about Rs 35,000 for the top-spec Alpha variation. In contrast, the active 1.3-liter diesel model. The recently offered base Sigma variation is not accessible with the Ciaz 1.5-liter diesel.

Interestingly, the new Maruti Suzuki Ciaz is missing the semi-hybrid setup of the old model. The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz petrol continues with its double battery hybrid setup for sure.

The Engine: Detailing
The updated Ciaz is the model to highlight the new motor that has been called DDiS 225 to imply its torque.

The turbocharged four-barrel diesel motor makes 95 hp at 4,000 rpm and 225 Nm of torque at 1,500-2,500 rpm, which gives a 5 hp and 25 Nm torque over the active 1.3-liter motor.

     

With an ARAI evaluated mileage of 26.82 kpl, the Ciaz diesel clutches the crown of a most productive diesel-manual car, whether the economy has gone somewhere near 1.27 kpl versus the current 1.3 motor.

While the motor is an all-aluminum unit, Maruti confirms that the refinement has been given due significance. Upgraded pressure proportions are said to have decreased motor changes while a double mass flywheel has been fused. The new Ciaz diesel is Suzuki’s new 6-speed manual transmission.

This engine is about conveying the upgraded performance, with a torque of 225 Nm@1500-2500 rpm and with the intensity of 70 kW@4000 rpm. With the launch of this new amazing motor, the model will presently be accessible with the 1.5-liter limit in both petrol (K15 with Next-Gen Smart Hybrid) and diesel (DDiS 225) choices.
