MG Astor to be launched soon!

In the third quarter of 2021, MG Motors will launch an all-new mid-sized SUV in India. Multiple times in Gujarat, the new model has been spotted testing. The mid-sized SUV, rumored to be named the MG Astor, is essentially a petrol-powered version of the ZS SUV.

Earlier it has been stated that the MG Astor could be the first vehicle in its class to deliver ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System). According to a new spy picture, MG is checking the Astor SUV’s emergency brakes. Active driver assistance features including automatic emergency braking, blind-spot detection, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, front collision warning, and hands-free auto parking could be available for the SUV.

When will MG Astor unveil?

Before Diwali, during the festive season, the MG Astor will be unveiled. It will compete against the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Nissan Kicks, as well as the Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun, which will be announced shortly. It would almost definitely be a petrol-only model with two engines: a 1.5L 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol and a 1.3L turbocharged petrol.

The naturally aspirated petrol engine produces a maximum power output of 120bhp and a maximum torque output of 150Nm. The turbocharged engine, on the other hand, produces 163bhp and 230Nm of torque. There will be manual and automatic versions available. The turbocharged Astor’s 138bhp, 1.4-liter turbocharged petrol engine would be substantially more powerful than the Creta’s.

Know about its dimensions

The new MG Astor’s dimensions are 4,314mm long, 1,809mm wide, and 1,644mm tall, with a 2,585mm wheelbase. The SUV has a 205mm ground clearance. The SUV will feature a wide 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone access, MG iSmart connected car technology, a panoramic sunroof, electrically adjustable driver’s seat, cruise control, automatic air conditioning, and a 360-degree camera, among other features.

In terms of functionality, the new MG will be very similar to the ZS EV. The majority of the ZS EV’s features are predicted to be retained by MG. The Astor is supposed to have the same LED projector headlights with LED DRLs, front grille and rear LED taillights. The headlights’ nature could be a little different. The MG Astor, on the other hand, is expected to get a new fog-lamp housing and new alloys.
