SUV is a fast growing segment in India. Next two years is going to see the launch of more than 11 players in the SUV segment. Mid-sized SUVs Kushaq from the Czech car manufacturer Skoda is hitting the roads in July 2021. It is expected to face a stiff competition with the Korean auto manufacturers KIA & Hyundai.
Hyundai Creta & KIA Seltos are reigning this mid-sized SUV segment. However, under the India 2.0 Project of the larger Volkswagen group, Skoda is launching the Skoda Kushaq in India. It is going to be the first car to use the MQB AO IN platform. The car will be available in 3 variants with 2 different engines and 2 gearboxes.
The three trims namely, Active, Ambition & Style stands 1612 mm tall with a length of 4221 & width of 1760mm. The car is powered by either the 1.0 Litre TSI petrol engine or 1.5Litre TSI petrol engine. The engine will be mated with a 6 speed manual or automatic gear box and a 7 speed DSG automatic gearbox in the style variant. The 1.5 L TSI petrol engine provides a maximum power of 150 bhp and a top torque of 250 Nm. This is better than both the competitors at 140 bhp & 242 Nm.
The mid-sized SUV is available in 5 colours – Brilliant Silver, Red, Orange, White & Carbon Steel. Other than the punchy engine, Skoda Kushaq also boasts a plethora of other features such as dual tone alloy wheels, hill hold controls, automatic rain sensors and wipers, ventilated leather front seats, electronic brake force distribution, 6 airbags, anti-lock braking systems, adjustable seatbelts, tyre pressure monitoring system, large boot space, dual rear air vents, etc.
On the interior, the car comes with a prominent 10“ infotainment screen and a 7 speaker music system that makes every drive a wonderful trip. Kushaq also comes with ventilated leather seats, wireless charging ability for mobile phones, steering wheel with controls to music system. The infotainment system gets compatibility with Android Auto or Apple Car Play.
