Czech car maker Skoda will unveil its new sedan this year. Skoda had been testing the new model rigorously in the past one year. The upcoming model could be named as the Skoda Slavia and it will be positioned slightly above the other existing sedans like Hyundai Verna & the Honda City.
Skoda Slavia is based on the India specific platform MQB AO IN of the Volkswagen group. Although it will not replace the current Rapid, it will ride on the familiarity of the Rapid and provide an updated driving experience.
The Czech automobile manufacturer is running a competition to select the camouflage that will be adorned by the Skoda Slavia during field tests. The entries for the designs can be submitted to the camowithskoda. August 18th is the last date to submit your entries to the contest and the winning design will be selected on 23rd of August.
Engine Options of Skoda Slavia
Skoda Slavia will be slightly longer than the current Rapid models and will measure 4480 mm with a wheelbase of 2651 mm. This provides a more comfortable seating arrangement and better leg room for the passengers. It is too early to guess about the interiors and the exteriors but what we know for sure is about the engine and gear box combinations.
It will come with the option of two engines, both Turbo petrol engines. The first will be a 3 cylinder, 1 litre turbo petrol engine that will be mated with a 6 speed manual gearbox or 6 speed automatic. The second and relatively powerful option will be powered by a 1.5 Litre turbo petrol engine that can produce up to 115 bhp of power. This will come with the automatic gearbox option.
Skoda is also entering the SUV market with the India specific Kushaq model. With the mid-range sedan Slavia, Skoda has just improved its appeal among the car buyers in India.
