Suzuki Motorcycle India has officially launched the new 125 CC bike named Avenis. The Japanese automobile manufacturer had previously teased the launch on November 16th. On first look it resembled the Suzuki Burgman and was thought to be an electric bike. The full digital instrument cluster made the suspicion seem real. However, it has been revealed that the bike is nothing but the 125 CC competitor for the TVS NTorq.
The new Suzuki Avenis comes in stylish colours that are trendy and savvy. The neon colour shades will definitely attract the Gen Z and millennials. Avenis comes in 3 variants, the standard edition, the ride connect edition and the race edition. Both Ride Connect & standard edition comes with 4 colour options. A bright orange, lush green, matte black & pearl white. The race edition comes only in blue colour. All editions have a bi-colour theme with grey or matte black body parts.
First Look & Design of Suzuki Avenis
The bike seems to have an elegant handlebar that stands out. Suzuki has worked on the front part of the bike which is unorthodox in looks. It has the same underpinnings as the famous Burgman. It has almost the same dimensions but for a small change in the length & width. Avenis is slightly longer & taller than Burgman at 1895 mm & 1175 mm. Other than that it has the same ground clearance and seating position as the Burgman.
A digital console with speedometer, odometer, trip meter provides all the necessary information for the rider. In addition to the stylish front, the bike also sports a curvy rear. The LED headlights and tail lights provide a prominent and unique look on the road.
Suzuki Avenis Launching Date
Suzuki launched the bike on November 18th, 2021. Although it was earlier believed to be an electric bike, the news that Avenis will be a 125 CC cousin of Burgman has provided some relief for the customers as the electric variant would have been much costlier than the present price.
However, for people who have been eagerly waiting for an electric bike from Suzuki, it was a let down.
Full List of Features of Suzuki Avenis
While TVS NTorq has claimed to be the first bike in India to have bluetooth connectivity, the new Suzuki Avenis will also have similar connectivity options. Apart from that, the bike will also get navigation control, hands free call speaking. Many features like this will make it a natural choice for the young generation.
The scooter has a full digital console that provides all the important information on it. You can connect your mobile phone with the scooter through bluetooth and it has advanced features such as SMS and call alert and it is easy to control the same without even touching the phone. It also displays navigation status, battery level. Interestingly, the scooter alerts when exceeding a set speed. The USB socket is housed inside a small box below the handlebar with ample space for keeping the mobile phone. However, fitting large mobile phones with wider displays will be hard.
On the front, the body mounted LED headlight and the sporty looks make it slightly different from competitors. The ingeniously placed fuel tank with the fuel cap behind the seat makes it convenient to refuel. This also means that the underseat storage space is completely free for storing things. The rear indicators are almost bikish in nature. Together with the sporty LED headlights and stylish rear lights, Avenis provides a refreshing look to the everyday scooter.
Powered by a 125 CC engine, the new Suzuki Avenis provides a comfortable and powerful ride experience. It will be a good bike for your daily city travel. If you commute to the office and home on crowded roads, the new scooter will be ideal for you. The 4 stroke air cooled single cylinder engine provides a maximum power of 8.7ps & 10Nm of torque. Interestingly, the scooter gets both a kick and electric start system.
Thr braking duty is carried out by a disc on the front and a drum on the rear wheels. The large 12 inch tubeless tyres on the front and 10 inch tubeless on the rear provides good grip on the road. The telescopic suspension on the front and the swing arm suspension on the rear are all the same as the Suzuki Burgman.
On Road Price of Suzuki Avenis in India
The starting price of the bikes are around 86,700 for the standard edition and 87,000/- for the race edition. On top of this, Suzuki offers accessories such as knuckle cover, floor mat, seat covers in different colours, rear foot rest, body graphics and body cover as addons. Adding the registration & other charges, the Suzuki Avenis could make you shed a Lakh to make it yours.
Should You Buy Suzuki Avenis in 2021?
Suzuki Avenis has been launched at a moment when electric bikes and scooters are getting popular. Suzuki Access and Burgman are already famous and have a huge number of happy customers. The Suzuki Avenis closely resembles the burgman and does not offer much in terms of power, riding quality or other features.
Fancy bluetooth and navigation are good in a few use cases but these don’t differentiate the scooter from its competitors or from the Burgman for that matter. It is still a 125 CC scooter that provides easy riding experience.
Had Suzuki came up with an electric version of the scooter, it would have taken a huge chunk of market from the likes of Ola S1, Bajaj Chetak or the TVS. Now Suzuki has to catch up with the competitors in terms of electric bikes and electric scooters.
Larger bikes and sports bikes are bought for the power, riding quality and touring and highway capabilities. However, the expectation of an average scooter buyer is to have good mileage and low maintenance cost for the urban commute. With the rising fuel prices, an electric scooter might have wooed more customers to the side of Suzuki. Unfortunately, that is not the case and how Suzuki Avenis ends up is for the market to decide.
