Suzuki is one of the most recognized brands in India. The Japanese car maker has plans to launch a new-gen S Cross in the Indian market in 2022. S-Cross offers a refined SUV experience. While Suzuki has decided to stay only in the petrol market in India, the SUV with a 1.5 L BS6 petrol engine provides an amazing 77kW or 104hp of power and a maximum torque of 138 Nm. That is comparable to the power produced by almost 2L diesel engine.
A spacious 4300mm length makes it the perfect vehicle, if you want to combine power with comfort. The new-gen S-Cross will sport a new four wheel drive (4WD) system. Apart from the existing 1.5L KB15 naturally aspirate hybrid engine, the new-gen S Cross will have a 1.4 Litre Booster jet 4 cylinder engine. It is the same engine that powers the Swift Sport. The new engine produces a maximum of 127 hp and puts the power of the new S-Cross a league ahead of its present output. The boost will help in providing a premium SUV experience and
Apart from the improvements to the S-Cross, Suzuki is also planning to give a make-over to the now 5 years old Swift. The 2016 Swift has seen many upgrades from the previous version and the reported 2023 new generation Swift will include a hybrid engine. With a 1.2L petrol engine and a 48V hybrid system, Suzuki is definitely eyeing the future with its fleet of hybrid vehicles.
Suzuki clearly steered away from diesel engine in India and the present trajectory puts it at a comfortable lead in the hybrid race as all the engines are moving towards a mild or strong hybrid system.
While Suzuki is planning to target the European markets with a larger leeway, the plans for India is only getting stronger by the day. With the new line-up of cars, upgrades, and hybrid systems, Suzuki has set its eye on the growing hybrid and eco-friendly market in India.
