Tata Motors had already launched the Dark Edition of Tata Altroz, Nexon and Harrier. The Indian automaker has finally brought the dark edition to the age-old Safari. If you love the black colour and if you believe that the only colour for the cars are black, then you are in for a pleasant surprise.

Tata Safari had been one of the longest serving models of the company. While the second generation and new Tata Safari was launched only in the year 2021, the nameplate had been in almost continuous usage by the company. The crossover SUV, Tata Safari dark edition 2022 comes with an Oberon black colour on the exterior. The car shares an all-black colour scheme including the grille, door handles, alloy wheels and even on the rails. The only chrome parts of the car are in the Tata logo and the dark edition badge.

     

It is also to be noted that Tata had previously launched the Gold edition of the Tata Safari. The Gold edition came in two colours, Pearl white & metallic black colours. The definitive and signature gold colours replaced all the chrome parts of the ordinary Safari. With the introduction of Dark edition, Tata Safari now comes in 8 distinctive colours.

Tata Safari dark edition has the same 2.0 L turbo diesel engine that produces 170 bhp of power and 350Nm of torque. The BS6 diesel engine provides ample of power in spite of the large carrying capacity of the SUV. It doesn’t feel low on power even when the full capacity of 7 people are taken.

Safari Black edition comes in both manual and 6 speed automatic gearboxes. At 4661 mm of length, Safari has one of the most comfortable interiors in the segment. The lavish 1894 mm of width ensures wider seats and convenient space between the seats. This is a car in which you will have room regardless of the size of your body. At 1786 mm height, Safari is a car in which you can walk into, not crawl into.

The crossover SUV is front wheel driven but has multi drive modes and advanced terrain response modes that provides better traction and control in off-road conditions. Even the R18 alloy wheels come in the matte black colour. Everything including the door handles are jet black. The only places where you can see the chrome is in the Tata logo & the Dark Edition badges.

Headlamp bezels and rails on the top also comes in black. The front fog lamps provide better visibility even around the corners. The smooth contours on the rear gives an appealing structure to the Safari. If the ordinary Safari was stunning, the new dark edition provides a breath taking view even from the back.

On the inside, you are in for more surprise. The new Blackstone interior theme is in line with the Tata Harrier and other cars. The dashboard has a Blackstone matrix that is stylish and stunning. The premium upholstery comes with the Benecke Kaliko Blackstone leather with the tri-arrow scheme. The perforated and ventilated seats ensure better comfort for you even on long drives.

     

Everything from dashboard, to controls, gear shifts and even the cup holders are dark black in colour. The only spots that stand out from the dark theme are the bright red seat belt clasps. The least difference is on the XT+ & XTA+ variants while the most difference of ₹72,000 is on the XZ+ 6 seater variant which comes out to 21.21 Lakhs.

With a starting price range of the new Tata Safari Dark is ₹19.05 Lakhs, it is an SUV that is definitely worth buying.
