Tata Tigor JTP Mileage, Ride Handling & Other Details!

With many carmakers investing heavily on innovations, aiming to offer maximum features at the best price, Tata Motors has been at the helm of it.

This can be validated by its entry in the performance segment with the Tata Tigor JTP Sport.

Being the first product developed under JTP (Jayem, Tata and Performance) brand, it effortlessly draws our attention to its cosmetic sculpting, which ticks off making a car with remarkable visual appeal from Tata’s list.

With Compact SUV’s being touted as the most preferred cars, compact sedans are inching closer and this latest progeny of Tata with a pocket friendly price tag and the success badge of its hatchback family will definitely secure a prominent spot among its competitors in the list.

Its measurements are 3,992mm in length, 1,677mm in width and 1,537mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,450mm. The JTP badging is quit visible on all ends of the car.

It has a sporty stance with a changed bumper, new headlamps with chrome rings and sturdy, wider 15-inch alloy wheels.

Fuelled by a 1.2 litre turbocharged Revtron petrol engine, which also resides in the Nexon, coupled with a 5 speed manual transmission, it makes 112 bhp and 150 Nm of Torque.

With a mileage of 15.87 kmpl, it claims to achieve 0-100 kmph in 10.38 seconds. Being a performance version, it scores less on fuel efficiency.

This modified performance version of can be yours at Rs. 7.49 lakhs. For a car which comes packed with so many modifications, the price tag doesn’t seem to be too altered. A sportier car at this price tag is certainly a steal.

Design – Exterior of Tata Tigor Sports

As I mentioned earlier about its aesthetic alterations, it gets its style from the play of colors that the car embodies.

     

A contrasting black roof, red ORVMs, clear lens tail lamps, and an eye catching shiny black strip that runs between the tail lamps.

With major upgradations being on the exterior, Tata’s new design philosophy is definitely being reflected in this model.

Another striking feature on its exteriors is the matte finish grille. On the sides, it has adorned side skirts, contrast rear view mirrors and red brake calipers.

Compared to exterior, interior changes are minimalistic however quite pronouncing differentiation, also giving a sporty feel.

Leather wrapped steering wheel with mounted audio controls, climate control, a touchscreen infotainment system with voice commands and navigation assistant, dual airbags and ABS, aircon vents which are highlighted due to its red borders, overall the all black interior with a touch of contrasting reds gives the cabin gives a very sporty experience too.

     

The seats also rank high on comfort due to its new fabric with red hexagonal motif and double stitching in red.

While the primary focus of JTP and Tata might have been on the wearables, the driving experience hasn’t been ignored. So a driving enthusiast can surely keep this model on their radar.

It has two driving modes – City and Sport, doing justice to both the experiences. While I would like to call it more of a city car due to its steering that can be easily twirled around lanes, it definitely feels like a different car altogether when you switch the mode, doubling the rpm. It also has a boot space of 419 litres.

Along with dual airbags, Driver frontal airbag & Front passenger frontal airbag and anti-lock braking system(ABS) , it also hosts electronic brake-force distribution(EBD), corner stability control, disc brakes rear parking camera with sensors, engine immobilizer and seatbelt warning.

It also has child safety locks, door ajar warning and central locking.

It has left no stone unturned when it comes to safety.

With better driving dynamics, spruced up and flamboyant exteriors and interiors which ooze sophistication despite the mixed color schemes, acceptable driving and handling experience, a lower ride height and considerable safety measures, it is a desirable for people across many demographics.

Of the many performance oriented cars that it was doing its research & development on, Tigor finally went under the nuts & bolts.
