Jeep the age-old off-roader brand had been the epitome of off-road capabilities. Jeep had been used in the World War & even today, the brand has a unique appeal among the enthusiasts and off-roading aficionados. In this article, let us see the good news about the upcoming Jeep models in India.
From 2021, both Citroen & Jeep are owned by the same company, Stellantis. While both have the same ownership, the nature and the feature of both Jeep and Citroen are completely different. The body, the features and the interiors are subject to minor modifications depending upon the brands’ market. So, here’s a list of SUVs from Jeep that are coming to India in 2022.
Jeep Compass Trailhawk 2022 Facelift Price in India
Jeep Compass had attracted not just the eyes of the people on the road but also the hearts of many young Indians. Jeep Compass gives a tough competition to both Mahindra XUV500 / 700 and the Tata Harrier. So, the new Compass Trailhawk facelift will send shivers down the spine of both Tata and Mahindra.
The first visible thing that sets apart the Trailhawk facelift from the original Compass is the modified grille in the front. The new design looks more compact, stylish and has an improved approach angle. It will be powered by the existing 2.0-litre Multijet diesel engine that produces 170 PS of max power and a peak torque of 350 Nm. Joining the engine is a 9-speed automatic transmission along with other features such as an Active Drive 4×4 system, low range gearbox, Rock-mode and hill descent control. The price of the Jeep Compass Trailhawk 2022 facelift starts from ₹ 17 lakhs in India. This model will be launched in the first half of the year and most probably in the month of February.
Jeep Meridian Price in India
If you have seen and loved the Jeep Commander then you will love the Jeep Meridian too. That is because both are one and the same. What is sold as Jeep Commander elsewhere is the Jeep Meridian. This 7-seater is an elongated version of the Compass. It shares the same underpinnings, platforms and other features with the Jeep Compass. In international markets the Meridian is available in the name, Commander.
The SUV is powered with either a 2.0-litre diesel engine or a 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine. The diesel engine generates 170 PS max power and 380 Nm peak torque, 30 Nm more than the regular Compass. The petrol engine on the other hand produces 185 bhp max power and 270 Nm peak torque. It is coupled with a 6-speed automatic transmission and has a front wheel drive.
In India, we can expect Jeep to launch only the diesel engine version. At 4769 mm length and 1859 mm wide, the Jeep Meridian is much larger than Jeep Compass. Even the height and wheelbase of the Meridian will be higher than the Jeep Compass.
It comes with a 10.25 inch infotainment screen, Alexa Virtual Assistant, panoramic sunroof, 7 airbags, adaptive cruise control, etc., it is a safe and fully packed SUV with all features.
Jeep Grand Cherokee – Launch Date & Price
Grand Cherokee is one of Jeep’s luxury SUV models. It starts at ₹86.95 lakhs and the top variant can reach up to ₹1.31 crores. The high prices of the vehicles are also because they are imported into the country and not assembled like the above two. The luxury SUV is spacious on the inside and powerful from the inside. The 5-seater model is powerful for off-roads and at the same time comfortable for the drives.
The SUV comes with three variations in its engines, a 243hp, 3.0-litre V6 diesel, a 290hp, 3.6-litre V6 petrol and a 468hp, 6.4-litre V8 petrol versions. An out of the ordinary engine, a fitting gearbox, and good off-roading capabilities makes the Jeep Grand Cherokee a crowd favourite.
Some other cool features the Cherokee has are, a power-operated rear lift gate, automatic high-beam headlamps, heated front and rear seats, power-adjustable front seats, interior ambient lighting, remote start, a 10.1-inch infotainment display, rain-sensing windshield wipers, a wireless phone charger, and more.
While the old Grand Cherokee was discontinued, the new 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee will be launched sometime after August 2022. It will not be a completely built unit that is imported into India but a locally assembled unit. As a result, we can expect some localisation and customisation in the Indian variants of the Jeep Grand Cherokee.
Jeep Renegade –Subcompact SUV – Launch Date & Price in India
Jeep Renegade is a subcompact SUV that is targeted at the young and new age generation that prefers to pack light and move swift. The Sub-4-Meter compact SUV from Jeep the polar opposite of the Meridian, size wise. At the same time, it is fully packed with the power and necessary features like the Meridian.
The full specifications of the Indian version are not available yet, but we can guess it could come with a 1.3 litre turbo-petrol engine that provides a maximum power of 185 bhp and 270Nm of torque. The engine can be fitted with a 6 speed manual gearbox or a 9 speed automatic gearbox.
There is no doubt that the interior of the Jeep Renegade will be fully loaded. With a new digital instrument cluster that shows all the necessary information in front of the wheel, an on steering control system, an 8.4 inch infotainment screen. As for the features, it comes equipped with LED headlamps, climate control, a sunroof, and more. It has also got new claddings on the front and the rear which makes it look like a whole new model from the original Renegade. Launched in 2014, Renegade is the smallest SUV from Jeep.
The on road price of Jeep Renegade could be around ₹22-28 Lakhs in India. However, the company has delayed the decision to bring the model into India.
No matter whether Renegade releases or not in India, you can be sure that the Jeep SUVs will cause a storm on the Indian Roads this 2022.
