Volkswagen Tiguan 5-seater launch date delayed!!

Volkswagen has delayed the launch date of the Tiguan 5-seater SUV in India because of the pandemic. Earlier, the SUV was slated to be rolled out in May 2021. But now, the model will hopefully be launched in June or July. Skoda has postponed the launch of the Octavia sedan as well.

     

Earlier in 2020, Volkswagen had discontinued the Tiguan. The revelation of the updated model was done in March 2021. The updated model will come with proper design alterations, and it will be BS6 compliant as well.

The all-new model will receive a restyled front fascia. There will be sharper headlamps and a new front grille. For the front design, inspiration has been drawn from The Atlas Cross and the European Touareg. There will be new LED Matrix headlamps in the top-end variants. The SUV will receive revised air intakes, triangular-shaped for lamp clusters, etc. Other changes like revised bumper, diffuser plate, L-shaped LED tail lamps, new alloys, and “TIGUAN” lettering on the middle of the tailgate can also be noticed.

The dashboard layout and other features will be retained in the 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan. The car will come equipped with a touch interface for the climate control system. The 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system comes with smartphone connectivity. There will be leather upholstery, an electric panoramic sunroof, connected car-tech, and so on. The SUV also flaunts a 3-zone climate control system and an 8-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat.

There will be in total six airbags for the car. For enhanced safety and security, the car will get ABS with EPD, tire pressure monitoring system, hill start, and descent assist.

A 2.0 litre turbo petrol engine will be churning out power worth 187bhp and torque of around 320Nm. A 7-speed DSG will transmit all the power to the front wheels. The SUV will receive Volkswagen’s 4-MOTION all-wheel-drive system also.

     

The price of the car will be around Rs 30 lakhs. The model will lock horns with rivals like Jeep Compass, Citroen C5 Aircross, and Hyundai Tucson.
