BMW 5 Series from the German luxury car maker is no new face in India but the series is getting a mid-life facelift with additional features on the interior and exterior. The engine and powertrain will remain the same. The existing 520d petrol engine with a top power of 252hp and & 530i diesel engine with 190hp will continue. Further, the 530d 3.0 litre diesel engine with a top power of 265hp is also expected to be continued in the new facelift. All engines will be mated with an 8 speed automatic gearbox that provides amazing speed and control.
So there is nothing to expect in terms of change of power or speed. While many carmakers are shifting to the mild hybrid systems with electric assistance, the same can’t be expected from the luxury grade car manufacturer. However, the bulk of the changes of the facelift will be easily visible from the front of the car.
Firstly, the new 2021 BMW 5 Series will get a new set of front grille that is wider than the previous version and it will be positioned relatively lower. The luxury sedan also gets a new set of LED headlights. The BMW’s laser light tech is also provided in top end variants. We can also find a change in the tail lights and the tail pipes that are more prominent in the new facelift.
On the inside, the BMW 5 Series will get the new 10.3” touchscreen for the iDrive infotainment console. The console will sport a new gloss black look that gives the premium look and feel. Other than these it is expected that the interior will also get other upgrades and minor variations which will augment the look even in the entry level models.
BMW 5 Series will face a stiff competition from the other luxury car manufacturers including the Audi A6, Mercedes Benz E Class and the Jaguar XF. The starting price of the sedan could be slightly higher than the previous series, i.e., slightly more than ₹56 to ₹70 Lakhs.
