Maruti Vitara Brezza 1.5 L Petrol v/s Hyundai Venue Petrol – A Preview Note!

The compact SUV segment gradually seems to be getting more and more cluttered. With almost every major carmaker stiffening up its share in this segment through their offerings, whether by launching a completely new model or capitalizing on the success of the existing ones by giving some upgradations, it is a feast for the consumers eyeing this segment. Recently Hyundai offered a new model in this segment called the Hyundai Venue whicb posed a threat to Maruti Vitara Brezza. But Maruti is also not holding back. They are ready to continue leading the market with the petrol version of Vitara Brezza. Today, we are pitting both the models against each other.

The engine that is assembled in the all new, first petrol version of Brezza, is a 1.5 litre K15B, 4-cylinder engine with dual-battery SVHS mild hybrid system which churns out an output of 105bhp and a peak torque of 138 Nm. Its 5-speed gearbox enables smooth gear shifting thus making the drive effortless.

On the other hand, Venue has not just one but two petrol engines. The first one is a 1.0 litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol with 6 speed MT & a 7 speed DCT and a 1.2 litre engine with 5 speed MT. The former produces 118bhp and 172 Nm of torque and the latter produces 83bhp and 115Nm of torque.

Clearly, Venue wins a point here.

When it comes to mileage, Venue’s 1.2L engine gives 17.5 kmpl and 1.0L engine gives 18.15 kmpl. Maruti Brezza is expected to deliver a mileage of 20-21 kmpl.

In terms of dimensions, both these SUV’s are the same in length that is 4 meters. However in width and height, Venue is a tad bit shorter.

Hyundai Venue also wins a point in terms of the boot space as its capacity is 350 L while that of Brezza is 326 L. Thus, for long journeys, Venue will be ideally preferred.

More details of Maruti Vitara Brezza’s petrol version are yet to be revealed, Hyundai venue has features like

  • Automatic climate control
  • Air Quality Control
  • Remote trunk opener
  • Cup holders
  • Smart access card entry
