Under the leadership of Skoda, the Volkswagen Group’s India Plan 2.0 is being carried out. The plan includes local development of engine, cars and platform. Volkswagen and Skoda are going to introduce four new cars in India before the current financial year ends.
Skoda Vision IN: Skoda is going to introduce the Vision IN concept SUV the next year. We can hope to get a glimpse of the production version of the SUV in the first quarter of 2021. The model will draw inspiration heavily upon MQB AO IN platform. The same platform will be underpinning the next-gen Skoda Rapid. The model will come with two engine options. One will offer 110bhp, 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol with 6AT and 6MT and the other one will offer power of 148bhp, 1.5 Litre turbocharged petrol with seven-speed DSG. It will be launched around the month of April June the next year. The price will be around Rs 9 to 15 lakhs. It will lock horns with Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta.
Next Skoda Rapid:This is a mid-sized Sedan which will replace the ageing Rapid. It will be equipped with 1.0 litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine. The engine will be3 churning power of upto 110bhp and 200Nm torque. The model will be launched in the first quarter of the year 2022. The price can range something between Rs 8 lakh to Rs 13 lakh. It will give tough competitions to rivals like Hyundai Verna, Honda City and Maruti Ciaz.
Next VW Vento: This new mid-sized Sedan will be replacing the ageing Vento. It will be developed heavily on the MQB AO IN platform. The global VW Virtus sedan will be inspiring this model. The engine will be a 1.p0 litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, with a capacity of around 110bhp and 175Nm of torque. You can expect the launch to take place in October or November of 2021. The model will be hopefully priced between Rs 8.5 lakh to Rs 13 lakh. It will be locking horns with rivals like Hyundai Verna, Honda City and Maruti Ciaz.
Volkswagen Taigun:This can be a festive surprise as the company is planning to launch it around Diwali next year. It will be sharing platform with Skoda Vision IN. The engine and gearbox options will be similar to Skoda Vision IN. As per the expectations, the model will be priced between Rs 9 lakh to Rs 15 lakh.
